CHURCH MANAGEMENT

 Luke 16:10-12 If you are faithful in small matters, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are unfaithful in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibility. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven. And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why should you be trusted with things of your own.

Use your money and other forms of wealth to serve and honor God and he will honor you.

  • To use the building and infrastructure to generate revenue for the groups and the church to be used in the development of Gods will here in Dandenong and beyond.

  • CHURCH GOVERNANCE
    • To oversee the Ministry and be responsible for the proper management of the Church and its resources.
    • To lay the ground work for efficient church management by directing and holding group leaders accountable for proper administration of resources.
    • To oversee yearly budget, capital expenditure and managing the risk of church operations.
  • CHURCH STRATEGY
    • Effective church growth is a result of well thought church strategy and planning.
    • We should go through the process of vision, mission and values development and strategic plan development every 3-4 years.
  • CHURCH GOAL SETTING
    • Implementation of church strategies is dependent on how well goals are set and accomplished.
    • Goal setting can be time consuming process but once goals are developed, a good performance management process can help ensure focus and timely completion of church goals that support its mission.
  • BUDGETING PROCESS
    • Churches have a limited resources so having a structured budgeting process to identify expenditure needs and prioritizing spending is critical.
    • Saving is an important part of sound budgeting as well as ensuring needed resources are available for the unexpected emergencies.
  • PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
    • Strategy and goal completion is only as effective as the process that manages it.
    • A structured process to monitor goal completion can help strategy implementation and holding people accountable is all what it is all about.
    • Whether it is a church member, volunteer, committee-completing goals as written on time is critical on church strategy and mission fulfillment.
  • VOLUNTEER SUPPORT
    • Churches rely heavily on volunteer labour and need a structured volunteer management process to help recruit, train and place volunteers.
    • Volunteer(s) offset labour costs.
  • RISK MANAGEMENT
    • Churches need to manage their risk and be legally compliant with governing laws.
    • Understanding Ministry risks and being proactive in minimizing exposure is what good church management is about.
    • Safety around the church and volunteer screenings are examples of church related risks.

 

 

DISCIPLESHIP

 

John 4: 23-24- But the time is coming-indeed it is here now-when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for anyone who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.

Your worship is pleasing to God when it is sincere and honest. Do your best to use your gifts in the community of believers-the Church. God will use you.

  • To ensure that Sunday worship is a time of renewal in the lives of the worshipers as well as to meet the contrasting and controversial worlds of the congregation.

  • To become stewardship of God’s creation as our physical and economic developments have destroyed other creations and our physical environments.

  • We should not ignore, misunderstand or have a distorted version of our neighbors cultures and views as these are obstacles to healthy Christian living of agape love and mutual trust between our neighbors.

  1. Sunday Worship
    • Sunday Sermon presentation(s) to show LOVE and compassion centered on Christ that will unite people towards Christ through Lewe Tolu Vakalou.
    • Youth to participate in bible reading on the First Sunday.
    •  All Sunday School and Youth to be present at all times during Talatala's sermon.
    •  Intercessory Prayer every Sunday.
    •  Fasting once a month.
    •  Fasting on special Christian Dates. - Easter week/no meat, grog from Friday to Sunday.
    • Choir practice after church to prepare for the following Sunday service.

 

 

EDUCATION

 Proverbs 22:6- Direct your children onto the right path and when they are older, they will not leave it.

Deuteronomy 6:1-9; Ephesians 4: 14-15.

Parents are called by God to guide their children in life. The truth found in God’s word is a start.

Ephesians 6:13-14- Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip Gods people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12; 4-11; 1 Thessalonians 5:19-22; Hebrews 2:4.

God has given special gifts to believers in order to benefit everyone in the community of faith-the church. Discover your gifts so you can serve others.

  • To have our children, layman and clergy   be well educated for education is both liberation and power. Emphasis will also be on adult education as a means to acquiring necessary life skills.
  • Both clergy and Lay Christian workers must be provided with appropriate knowledge and skills to be able to address the contrasting world’s needs of our people relevantly.

  • Training for Church Leaders

    •  Vakatawa to have special training through Synod and Cross Cultural Ministry.
    •  Leadership Training through Synod for all current and future leaders.
    • Specified Youth Worker training provided by the Synod.

  • Training for Clergy

    • Training for roles on our mission as a believer and a body of Christ.
    • Sponsorship for Choirmaster from Fiji to teach us and increase our knowledge of reading and singing Hymns.
    • Training for future Lay Preachers and Leaders.
    • Training for better understanding of the Holy Bible and the core Christian beliefs and teachings.

 

  • Training for Life skills

    • To learn traditional Fijian customs, art and craft, song and dance and food preservation and cooking with a view to transferring this skill sets to our next generation of Australian Fijians.
    • Practical Information Sessions on Skills for Life to include Everyday Finances, Parent/Teen relationship focussing on issues such as communication, negotiation, boundaries and respect,  Life Struggles, Understanding Dementia, Blokes Talk and other topical life issues affecting everyday Australian Christians.

 

 

OUTREACH & EVANGELISM

 

Psalms 72:12- He will rescue the poor when they cry to him, he will help the oppressed, and who have no one to defend them.

Amos 5:11-12; Exodus 22:21-27; Psalms 9:9-10; Amos 2:6-7; Job 16:1-6; 2 Corinthians 1:3-7.

God shows special care to those who are helpless and oppressed. As his people, we should do the same.

  • To promote a Lifeline support system that promotes home visitations, counseling and street evangelism.
  • To reach and offer a guiding hand to the so called lost souls of our Fijian society and offer to guide them back to the Christian values entrenched in the lives of our Fijian society.

1. Identify and visit new migrants as well as current Fijian families around the South Eastern region with a view to bringing them into the Church and the body of Christ.

    • Offer transport assistance to those in need of transport

2.  Participate in singing during Activities programs in Nursing Homes e.g. Christmas carols

3.  Assist with feeding of the underprivileged during Imitate Jesus at Church.

4.  Visit sick members of church as well as Fijian person(s) admitted in any Melbourne Hospital.

5.  Visit Fijians in Prisons and rehabilitation areas.

 

 

 

FAMILY, WOMEN & YOUTH

Ephesians 2:19- So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of Gods holy people. You are members of Gods holy family.

Ephesians 1:5, Psalms 38:11, 101:2, Luke 12:51-53, 1Timothy 5:3-5; 1John 3:1-3.

All who have put their faith in Christ belong to Gods family. This bond with fellow believers can be stronger than natural family ties.

  • To serve the demanding needs of the family, marriage and family life as well as the universal family of Christ.

    • To educate parents and children to know more about God and to help in improving their spiritual life.
    • To learn about family life relationships.
    • To ensure good health within the family.
    •  To know what services to access when there is a relationship crisis within the family.
    • To educate family on budget, finances, future plans, investments, insurances superannuation and retirement plans.
    • To enable women to grow spiritually and know their purpose in life as Christians by:
      •  attending bible studies and prayer groups, share testimonies, encourage and support one another.
      •  Alerting women on their roles and responsibilities in work, marriage and parenting in their daily lives.
      • enhancing the role of women in the home and community by acquiring knowledge and skill sets that empower them in their daily lives e.g. cooking, sewing, flower arrangement, budgeting, time management, art and craft, performing Fijian meke, mat weaving and kesakesa.
      • to build better relationship with other community groups through networking e.g. Unicare, Imitate Jesus, fundraising with Trinity Congregation, donations to refugee families and disadvantaged groups and to attend the International Women’s Prayer Day.

 

    • To encourage young people learn more about God by:
    •  attending bible studies and prayer groups.
    • participating in Sunday church services.
    •  learning to sing with and without musical instruments
    • To promote healthy living in our young people by:
    • educating them on importance of good nutrition and exercise.
    •  educating them on the effects of alcohol and other illicit substances on their physical and mental health
    • To encourage socializing with other people in the church environment by:
    • inviting the young people from other cultural groups to participate in a cultural night.
    • attending NCYC events.
